2010 NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally Racing Guidelines
The 2010 NORRA Mexican 1000 rally will follow the FIA definition of a Cross Country Rally. Special stages throughout the day timed individually and linked together by liaisons or transit stages.
The NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally will have 3 days of Special Stages:
- Day 1 will have 3 Special Stages.
- Day 2 will have 2 Special Stages.
- Day 3 will have 2 Special Stages.
- Each Special Stage will be scored individually. Liaison’s (transits) will not be scored but have target times and maximum allowable time windows to complete. Penalties will be imposed for early arrival (i.e.: speeding). Failure to meet the maximum transit time will also result in road penalties (i.e.: over time-limit assessments). Ample time is allowed to complete each Liaison section. There is no benefit to speeding and laying up. Time windows are computed as follows: For example: Liaison 1 (Laguna Salada – Diablo Dry Lake) is 59.7 miles, the posted speed limit is 80KM/Hr and there is a military checkpoint along the route. Now, calculate Transit Time Window as follows: 59.7miles*1.6KM/Mile = 95.52KM, driven at 80KM/Hr max speed, the minimum allowable transit will take: 95.52Km / 80Km/Hr = 1.19 Hrs. 1.19Hrs*60min/Hr = 71.64 Min. We add an additional 30 minutes to this liaison to allow for traffic conditions, and other variables. Therefore, the acceptable arrival window will be a minimum of 71.64 minutes and a maximum of 101.64 minutes in this example. **All Liaison Transit times will be provided on the Vehicle Time Slip** the example above is provided to illustrate how Liaison Transit times are developed.
The Mexican 1000 has a “shared” finish line in La Paz coming weekend together with the Dos Mares 500 Off-Road desert race. Find information on the NORRA 1000 - Dos Mares 500 shared “Alfombra Roja - Red Carpet” here.
